Mamba Assefa

Mamba was born in 1973 in Wollega, Ethiopia, and moved to Finland with his family in 1975. His interest in music emerged at the age of eight in the form of playing drums in his childhood environment in Koivukylä, Vantaa.

He has worked full-time in various areas of music since 1993, including jazz, pop/rock, electronic/urban, and experimental music.
His actual studio work began in the early 2000s at the “Ydin” studio on Fredrikinkatu, after which he moved to his own “The Junk Room” around 2008. Before transitioning to e-studio, Mamba worked as a recording engineer, producer, and mixer at Ambience Studio in Herttoniemi for 10 years.

Organic, acoustic music, recorded live remains close to his heart. During his career, Mamba has recorded, produced, and/or mixed several Emma Award–winning jazz albums.
